What we Believe test 2

What We Believe

At Bethel Church we believe that as Christians we need to be demonstrating the love of Jesus in all areas of our lives not just on a Sunday and that this should impact everything we do.  This belief drives us to get involved in our community around the church in Spon End but also in other local communities where we live across Coventry.

We believe that we have a message of hope that promotes real change in lives which are broken without God.  We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to hear that there is a God who loves them, is interested in their everyday lives and made a way for us to be part of His family now and forever.  Check out our What is Christianity page for more.

As well as this belief that drives us to do what we do there are a few key things we believe that shape our faith - here are the highlights along with some Bible references that you can have at look at for yourself.

  • The Bible - The Bible is 100% true and is our ultimate guide for life.  2 Timothy 3:16
  • God - God is made from three equal persons - God the Father, God the Spirit & God the Son and without beginning or end.  Together they're involved in creation, the saving of mankind and are in control of the universe. Colossians 1:16-17, John 1:1-4
  • Mankind - Without God we are all broken, our lives are in opposition to Him and ultimately we will experience His judgement.  Romans 3:10-23, Romans 6:23
  • Jesus - Is God's Son, was born of a virgin, was fully God and also fully man but did no wrong.  His death, burial and resurrection were actual historical events paying the price for all of mankinds wrong and rebellion against God past, presemt and future.  Only belief in Him can make us right with God.  Romans 10:9, Acts 3:12-26
  • The Holy Spirit - Lives in every believer, is intrinsic in our relationship with God, challenges mankind, and shows us how to live.  John 16:7-11, John 3:5
  • Church - Is universal and collectively the body of Jesus which He presides over, filled with those who belive in Him.  Bethel as the local church is an expression of this in our location.  Romans 12:4-5, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
  • Our Practices - We believe in baptism of believers by full immersion in water and we take the Lords Supper (also known as communion) regularly.  Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 11:23-29
  • What Happens Next? - We believe that heaven and hell are real and eternal places for those who follow Jesus and those who reject Him.  Jesus will return to judge the world and mankind at a time He has appointed.  John 3:17-19Revelation 20
